APS Students to Attend Genocide Forum

40 Social Studies students from South Middle School will participate in the Second Annual Anti-Genocide Darfur Forum on Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 10-11:30 a.m. The forum is hosted by the Kent Denver School at 4000 E. Quincy Ave.
Students from APS and other metro districts will participate in a variety of topics, ranging from “The Rights of Children: Genocide - Past to Present” to “The 2008 Olympics: China’s Silence on the Darfur Genocide.”
They will also talk with internationally acclaimed keynote speakers Mr. Mohamed Yahya, Executive Director of Damanga Coalition for Democracy and Freedom – a Darfuri refugee; and Mr. Adam Sterling – Director, GI-Net Divestment Task Force and student activist, who prominently features in the film “Darfur Now.”
APS students will also prepare an oral and musical message to present on behalf of their school. The event is open to the public.
