This is Aurora Public Schools Superintendent John L. Barry with an update for APS families regarding H1N1 influenza. APS is partnering with the Tri-County Health Department to offer immunizations to targeted groups who are considered at high risk for H1N1 influenza.
APS will host eight clinics in four of our high schools in November and December. The vaccine is available at no charge to those who are in the targeted groups attending a school sponsored clinic. Written consent from a parent or legal guardian will be required for anyone under 18 years of age. A parent or legal guardian MUST accompany any children under the age of 18 to receive the vaccine. This vaccine protects against H1N1 influenza only, not the seasonal flu.
Please visit the APS Health Department Web site or contact your school for clinic dates and times and a list of targeted groups. In addition, all schools will display posters with this information near the front entrance of their buildings by Friday, October 23.
I encourage you to participate in this public health event.
Thank you.
