International Baccalaureate Information Session

The International Baccalaureate Programme at Hinkley High School is an internationally recognized program that aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  The IB Programme prepares students for the most competitive college environments while developing a genuine love of learning and international under-standing.

The APS IB-Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Hinkley High School is for grades 9 and 10, and the IB Diploma Program (DP) is for grades 11 and 12. These programs are designed for those students interested in a rigorous, academically challenging curriculum focused on intercultural understanding and respect. 

The IB-Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Program provide a framework of academic challenge and life skills appropriate to this stage of development.

We are reviewing Colorados K-12 Model Content Standards and we want YOUR input!

Questions we will ask include:

  • How will the 21st century shape new academic needs and skills?
  • What do you know about the business work of today that we must consider in order to be well served?
  • What are the fundamental skills you consider critical for success in your industry for todays job candidate?
  • What should it mean to be a high school graduate? College ready? Technically prepared?
  • What are the new minimum requirements for students to be competitive globally?
  • What are your non-negotiable skills for new employees?
  • What type of training do you have in place to prepare new employees or to retrain existing employees?

APS Conference on Keeping Kids in School

Please join Aurora Public Schools John L. Barry and the APS Board of Education as they provide a truancy update to the community. APS, along with Aurora Police Department Chief Dan Oates, will discuss the programs they have in place to keep students in school.

The conference will also feature students and parents who have benefited from APS truancy outreach efforts in 2007.

Superintendent Barry and his leadership team will then make personal home visits to students who have not returned to school after Winter Break.

School Board Recognition Reception
