Student Supplies

Columbia Middle School Supply List for 2007-08 School Year:Globe and Books

Below is a list of supplies requested by each grade level’s academic/elective teachers. On the first day of school, students may receive a list from each of their teachers with additional items according to specific needs of an academic or elective class.

6th Grade

  • Loose leaf paper (white only)
  • Blue and black ball point pens (no gel pens)
  • Sharpened #2 pencils and erasers
  • Colored pencils and erasers
  • Colored pencils
  • 3 to 4 Glue sticks
  • 12” ruler with standard inches and metric markings
  • Pencil bag
  • Small school scissors
  • 2 large family size boxes of tissues (give to homeroom
    teacher)
  • Highlighter markers
  • 4 or more single subject spiral notebooks
  • 1” three-ring binder for social studies
  • 1 1/2” three-ring binder for math

7th Grade

  • 5 pocket folders (1 math, 2 language arts, 1 science, 1 social studies)
  • 1 three-pronged 2-pocket folder for social studies
  • 1 box of tissues for homeroom teacher
  • 1 three-ring notebook for math (at least ½” wide with loose leaf paper)
  • Lined loose leaf paper (white only)
  • Dry erase markers for math (may need several over the year; dark colors only)
  • Ruler (with metric measurements)
  • 1 box of colored pencils (1 box of 12 is plenty)
  • 1 box of thin markers (1 box of 12 is plenty)
  • 1 scientific calculator
  • 3 - 4 glue sticks
  • Red, blue, and black ball-point pens (no gel pens)
  • 1 small pair of scissors
  • Single subject spiral notebooks (these will be used throughout the year)
  • Access to a dictionary, thesaurus, and world atlas at home to complete homework. These can be purchased or found via the Internet
  • 2 packages of 3″x 3″ Post-It Notes (sticky notes)

8th Grade

  • Red, blue, and black ball-point pens (no gel pens)
  • One 2″ three-ring binder for language arts
  • 1 pencil bag/box for language arts
  • One 1″ three-ring binder for science
  • 1 composition notebook for language arts
  • Highlighters (3 different colors)
  • Dry erase marker
  • 2 boxes of 12 colored pencils
  • 2-pocket folders
  • 1 box of thin markers (1 box of 12 is plenty)
  • 2 packages of 3″ x 3″ Post-It Notes (sticky notes)
  • Ruler (with metric measurements)
  • 1 small pair of scissors
  • 3 - 4 glue sticks
  • One 3-hole folder for social studies
  • Graph paper (1/4″ or centimeter)
  • 1 scientific calculator

Life Skills:

  • 3 boxes of tissues
  • 1 bottle dishwashing liquid
  • 1 liquid hand soap refill
  • 1 bottle hand lotion
  • 1 bottle Purell hand sanitizer refill
  • 1 can air freshener
  • 2 containers sanitizing wipes (Lysol, Clorox, etc.)
  • 1 pack of 2 or more glue sticks
  • 1 tooth brush
  • 1 container of toothpaste
  • Anything for your child’s personal needs
  • Snacks to be shared by all students (cereals, popcorn, chips, crackers, cookies, etc.)
  • Snacks specifically for your child if she / he requires special food

Electives:

  • Foreign Language
    • 6th grade: 2-pocket folder for papers
    • 7th & 8th grade: 2-pocket folder and spiral notebook
  • Visual Arts
    • Sketchbook - can be a lined spiral or drawing pad approximately 8.5″ x 11″
