Aurora Central senior Maria Saldana credits her mom for encouraging her through life.
“Everything that I am right now is because of her,” said Saldana.
Saldana hopes her continuing education prepares her to come back to her community and encourage young Hispanic girls to achieve.
“I want other Latina girls where I live to see education as the most valuable thing they possess.”

Aurora Central H.S. student and Daniels Fund scholarship recipient
Saldana is a 2007 Daniels Fund scholarship winner and plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado.
