Flock Funds Student Trip
Aurora firefighters at station No. 6 recently awoke to find a flock of birds perched in their lawn.
These weren’t any ordinary birds, but a cardboard cut-out flock used to raise money for the students on Rangeview High School’s “Destination Imagination” team.
Fellow firefighters from station No. 9 from down the street, were flocked just a few days earlier, but chose to make a donation that would move the birds to the front lawn of Fire Station No. 6.
Students offered to remove the birds for a small donation, or the firefighters could make an even larger donation that would move the birds to another fire station of their choice. They could even purchase “flocking insurance” to ensure the birds wouldn’t return to roost.
Station No. 6 donated $30 and bought the $15 anti-flocking insurance.
The student team will use the money to fund a trip in the Destination Imagination global finals being held in Knoxville, TN this May.
Destination Imagination is a creative thinking, problem solving program for students K-12. The program teaches kids to think on their feet, use creativity in all aspects of life and solve problems as a team.
