Returning the "H" to Hinkley

On June 21, APS staff members gathered to return the letter “H” to Hinkley High School. APS Chief Operating Officer Anthony Sturges, class of 1981, and Hinkley Athletics and Activities Secretary Becky Schiessler Watkins, class of 1976, added the first shovels of concrete to the new H in front of the remodeled school entrance.

“It is exciting to take part in creating the new H. Not only did I attend high school here, but my father was Hinkley’s first head baseball coach. I remember when the first H was poured at the school opening in 1963.”

After the concrete sets, construction workers will apply the blue stain to the letter. The H will be surrounded by a circle of white rocks to set it off.

Hinkley’s bond-funded whole building remodel is in the final stage of construction. Staff, students and community members will celebrate the school’s new look with an open house this September.
