Mentoring Expectations

Written by the APS Communication Department @ 2:54 pm Print This Story Print This Story

Dear APS Teammates,

As I have discussed before, during the 2007-08 school year we are announcing a new program and asking for adult volunteers to team up with just one student in a school and serve as a mentor for one year.

As you know the vision of Aurora Public Schools is to graduate every student with the choice to attend college without remediation. Our new voluntary mentoring program will allow additional opportunities for caring, concerned staff members to establish positive relationships with our students to graduate with the choice to go to college. We thank you for your willingness to support our mentoring program. Attached is a guidance letter for your review. If there are any questions, please feel free to get with School Services.

Thank you for your involvement with at-risk students. With our commitment to all students, we will graduate every student with the opportunity for a bright future.

Sincerely,

John L. Barry, Superintendent
