9/11 Tradition Continues at Three APS Schools
The tradition of honoring those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001 continues at Aurora Public Schools. Students at Century, Jewell and Vassar elementary schools celebrated the lives of the everyday heroes who protect them and remembered those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The Daughters of the American Revolution joined the Aurora Fire Department and the Aurora Police Department to bring a special ceremony to Century, Jewell and Vassar elementary schools. Each ceremony included an impressive flag presentation, the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. Every student held a small American flag during the ceremony, donated by Graebel Companies.
Superintendent John L. Barry and Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer also attended the ceremonies.
