Hinkley Celebrates New Look
Out with the old … and in with the new!
For more than 40 years, Hinkley High School has been a familiar fixture in the Aurora community. But if you haven’t visited the school lately, you might not even recognize it.
A two-year building remodel has given Hinkley a dramatically modern look. The school’s new design is open and expansive, with a two-story concourse that spans the building from west to east. Students now enjoy modern science classrooms, a high-tech media center, and a second-story commons room with west-facing windows and stunning mountain views.
Other building improvements include new classrooms, a life skills suite for special needs students, administration offices and a distinctive new entrance. In addition, Hinkley received an extensive remodel to modernize existing space and provide a safer, more comfortable learning environment.
The Hinkley remodel was funded with bond dollars approved by district voters in 2002. Bond projects under construction this year include a new building for Boston Elementary School, a K-8 magnet school and a building for special needs students. “We are grateful to the Aurora community for supporting this bond program. These improvements support our small learning community approach to education and make a real difference in the quality of the school environment.”
