AYP Report Finds Gains at APS Middle Schools
APS middle schools saw gains in math in the latest Adequate Yearly Progress report. As a district, the schools fell short of performance goals set by the federal No Child Left Behind Act. CSAP results, graduation rates and other factors determine AYP.
The district met 120 of 150 targets, or 80%. That compares to 87% last year. Twenty-one schools met AYP marks for 2006-07.
The greatest progress was reported at the middle school level, particularly in math. Other increases also look promising to district officials.
“We are seeing increases with our most at-risk students, including ELL (English Language Learner) students.”
