What a Good Idea!

Written by the APS Communication Department @ 1:03 pm Print This Story Print This Story

Your good idea could turn into thousands of dollars in cash! APS is proud to announce the “Good Idea Program.” Staff members may earn cash rewards for innovative ideas implemented by the district that lead to improvements or monetary savings.

Submit your idea to the chief financial officer and in less than 60 days, you will know if your idea is a winner for the district.

Good ideas will be reviewed by the chief financial officer and the appropriate division head. The superintendent’s Leadership Team will give final approval.

Awards will be paid in September, after one full year of implementation to allow for measuring savings. Staff members may earn a one-time payment of thousands of dollars based on their idea.

  • $250 – for ideas that lead to improvements, but do not lead to monetary savings
  • 3% of yearly savings – for ideas that save at least $20,000 in annual costs within the employee’s immediate set of job responsibilities (capped at $3,000)
  • 15% of yearly savings – for ideas that save at least $50,000 in annual costs within the APS district (capped at $10,000)

All non-administrator and non-professional technical staff members are eligible. Groups who submit an idea together will split the award equally.

If the same good idea is submitted by more than one staff member and it is implemented, the award will go to the person who submitted the idea first.

Winners will be acknowledged at a board meeting. Award payments are not PERA eligible as salary, but are subject to federal withholding tax.

To submit your idea now, visit apscms.net/enews/good-idea-submission.
