APS Students Sing Their Hearts Out for Vets

Holding American flags and wearing special hats with military emblems, APS students performed patriotic songs to the audience honoring American heroes. APS students paid tribute to veterans during the 2007 Veterans Salute sponsored by the City of Aurora at the Wings Over the Rockies museum. Students from Side Creek Elementary School, under the direction of Peggy Hassan, showcased their talents to the community by performing patriotic songs at the event.

Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets from Gateway, Rangeview, Central and Hinkley high schools have supported this event for many years. They served coffee and doughnuts to guests and a special group performed a drill team routine.

“I like coming on the bus to the museum and seeing the planes. It is fun to sing songs from our school and get autographs from the people in uniform.”
- Side Creek Elementary School student
