Paige Vickery is a 1987 APS graduate who attended Lansing Elementary School, South Middle School and Aurora Central High School. Vickery was a member of the Lansing student council and the Aurora Central band and ski club. She earned a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Lamont School of Music at University of Denver in 1994.

Today, Vickery holds positions as Assistant Conductor of the Britt Festivals and Principal Guest Conductor of the Denver Brass. Her previous posts include a nine-year tenure with the Colorado Youth Symphony and an eight-year tenure with the Boulder Youth Symphony. She has also served as music director and conductor of the Pikes Peak Philharmonic, director of the Metro State Wind Ensemble, and assistant conductor of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra at the University of Denver. Vickery serves on the honorary board of directors of the Tourette Syndrome Association for New York City and the Rocky Mountain Region.

Vickery’s passion for travel has taken her around the globe and even as far as Antarctica. “The event I am most proud of professionally was the William Montague Award from Kharkov, Ukraine,” said Vickery. “The pool of international applicants began at 300 and 27 were invited to the Ukraine. I was the only woman and the only American to medal at the competition. I was proud to represent both!”

“My first grade teacher, Kay LaFontise, was the most influential teacher in my life. Unbeknownst to my family until several years later, I had Tourette Syndrome which resulted in unusual facial tics. Being in LaFontise’s classroom was a blessing! She was the most loving and effective teacher I have ever had. She was and remains one of my life angels.”
