Altura Celebrates Literacy with Books and Bagels

Altura Elementary School staff, parents and community members gathered to celebrate literacy with students at the annual “Books and Bagels” event. They read stories to kindergarten through fifth grade students while feasting on bagels.
APS Assistant Superintendent Tony Van Gytenbeek, along with Aurora Fire Department staff members Captain Hunter Hackbarth and fire investigator Mike Blanchard, read some of their favorite books. Van Gytenbeek read “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Trout” to students and shared his joy for reading.
