“Amazing Auroran” Honored at Hinkley High School
Aurora City Council member Renie Peterson recently presented Hinkley High School teacher Christine Sundberg with an “Amazing Auroran” award.
Peterson selected Sundberg for the award based on her valuable contributions to her school, her students and the teaching profession. Sundberg recently earned a $10,000 grant for Hinkley High School as the 2007 Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year for Colorado. Sundberg teaches several International Baccalaureate World History classes, an African Studies class and a U.S. History class.
Sundberg also helped organize the Landmine Task Force that has raised more than $31,000 for the United Nations Landmine Initiative and the Adopt-a-Minefield campaign.
“The City of Aurora is pleased to have exceptional teachers like Christine Sundberg. They are the most valuable resource for our students’ futures.”
- Renie Peterson
