School Board Members … Devoted Leaders!
January is School Board Recognition Month

From early morning school events to late night meetings, the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education is leading students and staff to success. The seven-member board establishes policies that keep APS focused on what is best for students.
The work of board members doesn’t stop after attending two board meetings a month. Board members are constantly on the go, attending school and district events and representing APS on local, state and national levels. Despite their hard work and dedication, elected board members receive no financial compensation.
Aurora Public Schools is proud to join districts across the state in recognizing the commitment of school board members in preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s world.
Thank you to APS Board of Education members for their selfless service to our schools and community!
Here’s what some board members had to say about serving our community.
“I am most proud of the Board of Education’s work in implementing the VISTA 2010 plan. This is the “road map” we will follow in our goal to make APS the best school district in the state of Colorado.”
- Matthew L. Cook
President
“I am most proud of in APS of the commitment being shown to the students from our teaching staff in many schools. When both of my daughters have been going through their educational experiences, the teachers have given them and the students in their classes an enormous amount of time, effort, sincere feeling, and most of all, desire to help them succeed. I am very grateful and wish to thank each of them for this.”
- Peter Cukale
Treasurer
“The children in APS make me proud. They are bright and intelligent and full of potential. When I walk into a classroom the children are involved and willing to learn. They make APS what it is and that’s what we are here for. It’s hard to pick only one thing to be proud of. The people that work in the district are committed to provide our students with everything it takes to become successful. Teachers, staff and administrators take on challenges everyday and work toward making APS the best educational experience a student can ask for. For that I am proud to be a part of Aurora Public Schools.”
- Amy Prince
Director
