Frontier Students “Pop” and “Lock” to Learn about Bones
Aurora Frontier K-8 fifth through eighth grade students recently participated in an interactive physiology study of bones and muscles. Led by Denver Center for the Performing Arts movement specialist Lawrence Curry, students took a kinesthetic “tour” of their bodies. They used popping and locking, hip hop, and other isolated dance movements to “experience” the bones and muscles that they have been learning about in their science and physical education classes. The presentation was funded through a Scientific and Cultural Facilities District grant from the state of Colorado.
