Save Our Youth

DSC 0008The Save Our Youth mentoring program is helping Rangeview High School students succeed. The group is partnering with Colorado Community Church for a five-week program.

A computer-based learning lab was set up at facilities provided by Colorado Community Church. The Save Our Youth program focuses on educational, emotional and spiritual development.

“Out of those who complete the program, about a third will amaze you with the gains they make,” said Save Our Youth’s Tom Koby.

DSC 0013Koby said in the past, about a third of students moved up at least one grade level. He credits the success in part to a “one-room schoolhouse feel” where students are very different in their educational levels. The Compass Learning computer program allows students to move at their own pace.

Students who attended and successfully completed the program were eligible to receive up to $100 each week. Save Our Youth provided the funding for the program and APS provided the laptops for the students.
