Pickens Earns 5-Year Accreditation
Pickens Technical College recently received its five-year re-accreditation by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. NCA CASI is part part of AdvancED, the world’s largest education community composed of over 23,000 public and private schools around the U.S. and the world. The goal of accreditation is to evaluate, verify, and improve each school’s quality at every level.
Pickens participation in NCA CASI is voluntary, yet the benefit to the school and the students is profound. Accreditation eases the transition of credits when students move from one accredited school to another. The ease of transfer applies across the nation through reciprocal agreements between the regional accrediting agencies.
Pickens’ accreditation is a mark of quality. It means that the school is committed to continually improving its educational opportunities for learners and raise the performance of all students. Pickens voluntarily goes beyond district and state requirements and holds itself accountable for meeting nationally and internationally recognized standards of excellence. Accreditation is a means of quality assurance for students who choose to attend Pickens and the community that employs them.
The students benefit directly from the accreditation process. By attending Pickens, students can apply for federal loans or scholarships. Students can pursue admission to colleges, technical schools, or military programs that require them to come from regionally accredited schools like Pickens. These advantages would not be available to students without Pickens’ accreditation.
Pickens’ NCA re-accreditation is a testimony to its support from the District and Board of Education, the community, and, most importantly, its hard-working, experienced staff. Congratulations, Pickens Technical College!
