The Children’s Hospital Staff Save More Than Lives
By April Govednik
More than 40 staff volunteers from The Children’s Hospital traded in their scrubs and stethoscopes for shorts and shovels to help beautify the exterior of a school in their new neighborhood. The volunteers planted trees, flowers and shrubs at North Middle School. Singing Hills Landscaping and the Aurora Public Schools Maintenance and Operations crew helped to install an irrigation system and placed rocks and mulch around the school.
“The volunteers did great job. The work looks good,” said Steve Hardin of the Maintenance and Operations staff.
Maxine Moberg, Director of The Children’s Hospital at Lutheran, agreed. “It’s awesome. It looks great! We did this for the kids.”
The heat didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of the workers. Despite the hard work, they smiled, laughed and joked throughout the day.
Thanks to the following sponsors from around the metro area for donating supplies and services for the project.
