APS Celebrates Crossroads Grand Opening
APS staff, students and community members celebrated the grand opening of the Crossroads center on September 24. Crossroads houses the Intercept Center and Transition Services programs, which provide specialized services to nearly 200 APS students.
The Crossroads center was one of several projects completed with $28 million in interest and earnings added to the 2002 bond fund. Crossroads is part of the APS Community Campus, which includes Pickens Technical College, William Smith High School and Aurora Quest K-8.
The Intercept Center is a unique, collaborative program between the Aurora Mental Health Center and Aurora Public Schools. Intercept provides day treatment and outpatient mental health services to identified students and their families.
Transition Services assists students with educational disabilities prepare for employment and independent living. The program is designed for students ages 18-21, who have completed their high school requirements and need more support to meet their post-secondary goals.
