Important Superintendent Message Regarding Oct. 1

Written by the APS Communication Department @ 5:32 am Print This Story Print This Story

This is Aurora Public Schools Superintendent John Barry with a very important message. I want to encourage you to make sure your children are in school on Wednesday, October 1.

Our state funding is based on the number of students we have in class on that day. We use these funds to support educational programs at your child’s school and to provide the resources needed for your childs learning.

Some of our schools in APS are offering incentives for students to attend on Oct. 1.  The Children’s Hospital has made arrangements for the Denver Nuggets to support October 1 attendance at Montview and Paris elementary schools:

  • The Denver Nuggets have donated a signed basketball to each school to be used for a drawing on Oct. 1.
  • All students and staff members who attend school on Oct. 1 will receive vouchers (2 each) for pre-season game tickets.

Aurora Central High School will provide a free breakfast to students who attend school on Oct. 1.

We look forward to seeing your students in class on Wednesday, October 1.
