Vassar “Steps Up” to APS Walking Challenge

APS Step ChallengeRisk Management today announced that Vassar Elementary crossed the finish line victoriously with having the highest percentage of steps in the Fall 2008 PaceSetting Healthy Habits Walking Challenge. There were twenty-five school sites that participated with a total of 716 employees walking.

The walking challenge, sponsored by America on the Move and the APS Risk Management Department, is a friendly competition that encourages Aurora Public School sites to compete to see who can walk the most steps over six weeks. The challenge inspires people to get moving and eat healthy.

The six-week competition ran from September 15 thru October 24, 2008 and employees logged more than 510,263,437 steps equaling 77,238 miles.

Those sites that participated In the Risk Management Safety and Security Challenge also received SafetyBucks credit for participating in the Walking challenge.
