This year Dartmouth Elementary’s staff, along with the Aurora Police Department, was able to raise enough money to assist over 20 families with their holiday celebrations. Many staff members even donated entire gift requests to particular families.
Dartmouth staff members have raised money through raffle baskets over the last seven years. Students, staff members, friends and families purchase raffle tickets and take the chance to win some extraordinary basket items. The core group of workers either purchases items for the baskets or requests coupons, gift certficates and goods from local businesses to place in each basket.
This year’s raffle inluded a 20” bike and an iPod as one of the basket chances. There were also some real “eye catchers”, such as an entire Sweet n’ Sassy visit, dinner at Red Lobster, Chili’s, and many other area restaurants. The baskets are not only filled with great goodies, they are also very appealing to the eye!
We always have an outpouring of assistance and purchases, which allows our “gift buyers” an opportunity to help each family that requests assistance.
The real joy of giving is gained by everyone who participates. It is truly the gift of giving that Dartmouth enjoys each holiday season.
