APS will launch a Response-to-Intervention model districtwide in the 2009-10 school year, as required by the Colorado Department of Education.
Response-to-Intervention (RtI) is an early intervention and prevention model that blends general education and special education. With RtI, students who show signs of learning difficulty receive the benefit of an inquiry based approach, changes in instruction and progress monitoring. The purpose is to improve educational outcomes for all students.
APS has developed an RtI guidebook which describes the expectations and components of a well-implemented RtI Model. To download the guidebook online and find more RtI resources, go to www.aps.k12.co.us/schools/rti.
