WILLIAM SMITH HIGH SCHOOL STAFF MEMBERS CHOSEN
TO SPEAK AT NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Two WSHS staff members have been chosen to present at the National Expeditionary Learning conference, which will be held March 5-7 in Baltimore, Md.
Principal Jane Shirley and math teacher Kristin Wiedmaier will lead a Master Class entitled “Hitting the Bulls Eye with Learning Targets” at the national conference. Students at William Smith are succeeding at much higher levels due to the strong work of the teaching staff. This session will outline the approach that William Smith teachers are taking to strengthen the connection between learning outcomes, assessment and student achievement.
Shirley and Weidmaier were two of about 30 people chosen to share information about successful initiatives in individual schools within the ELS network. “I think that being asked to make this presentation says that we’re doing something right at William Smith. We are innovative in our teaching methods and we have a lot to share with other schools,” said Wiedmaier.
