DAR Honors Gateway studentsFour APS students recently earned awards from the Toll Gate Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Dara Alexis Anderson, a Gateway High School senior, earned a Good Citizen award for her service to the community. Three Vassar Elementary fifth-grade students-Michelle Hulongbayan, Trevor Philio and Kylie Marie Sexton-were recognized for writing winning essays on the “Ideals of the Gettysburg Address.” The students were honored at a Feb. 12 celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln.

The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.
