APS Starts School Bond Projects
Thanks to bond funds approved by Aurora voters in November, APS has started work on several construction projects.
Construction of a new preschool-eighth grade school has started on the district’s 100-acre campus at Sixth Avenue and Harvest Road in east Aurora. The P-8 school will open in fall 2010, and a new high school is scheduled to open in fall 2011.
Other projects underway include:
- Laredo Elementary School - gymnasium addition and building renewal
- Wheeling Elementary School - gymnasium addition and building renewal
- Gateway High School - roof repairs
- Rangeview High School - kitchen remodel and building renewal
The $215 million bond construction program provides approximately $201 million for building improvements and nearly $14 million for technology. Construction will be completed over a five-year period.
