Aurora LIGHTS Student Outreach Program
Students from Aurora Central and Hinkley high schools recently spent time at the University of Colorado Denver at the Anschutz Medical Center visiting laboratories. The outreach is part of the Aurora LIGHTS program - a $3.9 million grant which shines the light on health sciences and creates a pathway that leads students into health care professions.
The group of 25 students visited the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology. They learned about biomedical research in the nervous system, embryonic development, taste and smell development, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for determining the structure of molecules, the visible human dissector, and color vision development in the fruit fly.
