Barry Honored as Business Person of the YearSuperintendent John L. Barry has earned the Business Person of the Year award from the Aurora Chamber of Commerce. The chamber honored Barry at its Annual Awards Banquet on April 17.

The award committee recognized Barry for his success in engaging the business community and his tireless efforts to ensure the passage of ballot measures 3A and 3B. The committee noted that he had earned the position of APS Superintendent as a result of his “enthusiasm, work ethic, intellectual agility and depth of commitment to children.” It also praised him for “the positive impact he has had in showing that good schools are good business.”

Aagje Barber, Cherry Creek School District Board of Education President, was a co-recipient of the award. The chamber’s annual awards program honors people and companies in the eastern Metro communities.

“This recognition is for our whole team. The leadership shown by our Board of Education, the Aurora Education Association and our principals made 3A and 3B a priority. Our parents, staff members and students helped us get the word out about our bond and mill levy. Thank you also to our voters for passing these measures.”
