Five Added to Wall of Distinction
Five people were recently added to Hinkley High School’s Wall of Distinction. The honorees graduated from Hinkley or have a record of outstanding service to Hinkley.
The purpose of Hinkley’s Wall of Distinction is threefold:
- To honor and perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have a record of outstanding achievement in his/her field, or who have made significant contributions to his/her field and /or the community at large after retirement/graduation
- To honor and perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have a record of outstanding service to Hinkley, even if they did not graduate from Hinkley
- To offer role models to current Hinkley students
The five candidates included:
- Dr. David L. Hartenbach - named Hinkley High School Principal in 1972, followed by Superintendent of Schools in 1993
- Mary Holland - worked for 33 years at APS, including time spent at five schools
- Bob Klotz - recognized for 16 years of teaching at Hinkley, followed by volunteer work as the sponsor for school clubs
- Mary Timm-Pageler - served more than 30 years in education, including time spent launching Hinkley’s first television studio on campus
- Capt. John T. Segura, U.S. Navy - graduated from Hinkley in 1979 and has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation medal and various campaign awards
