FUNCTIONAL DRILL

Student safety is a top priority in Aurora Public Schools. On June 12, APS, in conjunction with local police, fire, and other emergency groups, will actively test its emergency response in a functional drill.

Community members will pose as suspects as an emergency scenario plays out. Some members, playing the role of students, may be taken hostage during the incident.

APS generally plans one functional drill each school year. For more information about the IRT, go to apscms.net/departments/irt.

Media are welcome to watch the IRT in action at the Emergency Operations Center, ESC 1, 15701 East 1st Avenue #206, Aurora 80011.
