Call for Nominations for Aurora School Board Election
The Board of Education of the Joint School District No. 28J of the counties of Adams and Arapahoe Colorado, aka Aurora Public Schools, calls for nominations of candidates for school directors to be placed on the ballot for the regular biennial school election to be held on Tuesday November 3, 2009.
At this election, four directors will be elected at-large to the seven-member board, each to serve a four-year term. To be qualified a candidate must have been a registered elector and a resident of the Aurora Public Schools District for at least 12 consecutive months before the election. A person is ineligible to run for school director who has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.
A person who desires to be a candidate for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition in accordance with law. These documents will be included in the candidate packets which will be available beginning Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Packets may be obtained at the Office of Legal Counsel, 1085 Peoria Street, Aurora, Colorado, 80011 (303-344-8060 ext. 28009). Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Completed petitions must be submitted by the close of business on Friday, August 28, 2009.
