As a way to kick off the new school year, William Smith’s 9th and 10th grade classes each spent a day on a teambuilding course with Outward Bound during the last week of August. The programs took place at Denver Park and Recreation’s Genesee Experiential Education Center where there are outdoor facilities for teambuilding initiatives. Students were divided into smaller groups of 15 participants and were subsequently presented with various challenges to work through as a group, such as trust walks and low ropes initiatives. Although the exercises were not always completed easily, students demonstrated perseverance and compassion, learning how to be more effectively supportive of each other throughout the process.
