International Coastal Cleanup
The International Coastal Cleanup is a global event held every year in late September. On this day, people worldwide clean up their local beaches and waterways and record the amount of garbage collected. The ICC is an activity founded and organized by the Ocean Conservancy.
William Smith’s Senior Academy participated in the ICC recently at Cherry Creek Reservoir. They are also launching a fundraising project in conjunction with their participation in the ICC. They have a goal of raising $10,000 to donate to the Ocean Conservancy by March 2010. Senior Academy members are working together to raise awareness of water cleanliness and conservation, and the connectedness of the ecosystems worldwide.
To raise money, the group is selling t-shirts designed by Senior Academy student Katrina Sass. They are available for $10.
