WSHS Adventure Club Summits Fourteener
By Lauren Victor, WSHS Development Director
Over the weekend of September 11-13, William Smith High School’s first Adventure Club outing commenced by summiting Mount Elbert, the highest fourteener in the Rocky Mountain range. Adventure Club is a student-run organization; students took charge planning for necessary gear and meals for the trip. Nine students were accompanied by Assistant Principal David Roll, ninth grade science teacher Royce Hale and a parent. Seven of the students climbed to Elbert’s peak, braving a blustery mixture of snow flurries and sunshine, in a day hike that challenged even the most energetic of the group. In all, the students demonstrated their ability to be supportive of one another and work well together. They look forward to planning next month’s adventure!
