Parents Highlight Traffic Safety at Schools
A traffic safety committee comprised of dedicated APS parents is working to raise awareness of traffic safety within school zones in north Aurora. The group kicked off a week of student art projects promoting traffic safety.
During the week of September 28, art projects on traffic safety will be displayed at Altura, Crawford, Elkhart, Kenton, Paris, Peoria and Sable elementary schools. The projects were created by third, fourth and fifth grade students as a way to help educate parents and other drivers on the importance of traffic safety in school zones.
The group is striving to keep APS students and staff safe. The Denver Foundation is supporting the traffic safety committee’s efforts through a grant.
In addition, APS has created a traffic safety podcast in both English and Spanish. The podcast can be found at: http://apscms.net/enews/2009/09/02/traffic-safety-in-school-zones/.
The group asks drivers to be alert while driving through school zones and to obey all traffic laws.
