APS Board Director Judy Edberg Honored
Aurora Public Schools honored Board of Education Director Judy Edberg for her service and dedication to APS this week. Edberg is retiring from the board after completing a four-year term.
In recognition of her commitment to APS students, the health clinic at Crawford Elementary will be named in her honor. Edberg helped create the Crawford clinic, which was opened last year as APS’ first school-based health clinic, providing students low-cost immunizations, physicals, preventive dental care and other services. A brass plaque inscribed “The Judith Edberg Kids’ Clinic at Crawford” will be mounted on the wall outside the clinic.
A dedicated health care advocate for students during her board term, Edberg was employed as an APS school nurse for 15 years and as a Kaiser Permanente pediatric nurse practitioner for 12 years. She developed and managed the APS Medicaid Services Program for 7 years before retiring in 2005.
