H1N1 Update
APS Teammates,
I would like to provide you an update on the H1N1 flu vaccination clinics that we are sponsoring in partnership with the Tri-County Health Department. The goal of this partnership is to offer immunizations to targeted groups who are considered at high risk for H1N1 influenza.
The targeted groups are:
- residents of Adams, Arapahoe, or Douglas County and a member of an
identified high-risk group listed below - children and young adults from 6 months to 24 years of age
- pregnant women
- adults who care for infants less than 6 months old
- health care workers
- adults from 25 to 64 years of age who have chronic health conditions such as asthma or diabetes
The vaccine is available at no charge to those who are in the targeted groups attending a school-sponsored clinic. A parent or legal guardian MUST accompany any children under the age of 18 in order to provide the required approval for the vaccination. This vaccine protects against H1N1 influenza only, not the seasonal flu.
APS will host seven H1N1 flu vaccination clinics in four of our high schools in November and December. The clinics will be held on the following dates and times:
- Gateway High School
- Saturday, Nov. 7, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 12, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- Rangeview High School
- Monday, Nov. 9, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Monday, Dec. 7, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Aurora Central High School
- Tuesday, Nov. 10, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 8, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
- Hinkley High School
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
We have informed all APS families about the clinics via ConnectED messages. In addition, all schools have received posters with this information to display near the front entrance of their buildings. For more information about the clinics, please visit the APS Web site at www.aurorak12.org/illness-injury-infection/influenza-info/
