“Kids on the Block” Visit APS

National Fire Prevention MonthThe “Kids on the Block” recently visited four APS elementary schools as part of National Fire Prevention Month. Through music and realistic role-playing, students learned about fire safety and prevention. The puppets show students how to avoid potentially hazardous situations and how to react if something should happen.

Students at Laredo, Montview, Paris and Park Lane elementary schools took part in the assemblies as part of the Aurora LIGHTS program.

“National Fire Prevention Month is the perfect opportunity for us to present fire safety education in a way that is easy for students to understand,” said Burn Outreach Coordinator Katie Fuenning, University of Colorado Hospital. “We hope that they will share this information with their families and friends and take it with them as they grow into adults.”
