Rotary Student of the Quarter Marco GarciaThe Aurora Rotary Club recently honored Hinkley High School senior Marco Garcia with a student award.

Garcia was recognized for his outstanding scholarship and longtime community and school involvement. He began volunteering at the age of 7 with Original Aurora Renewal, an organization which preserves and maintains the buildings and culture of “Old Aurora.” He also volunteers with the Aurora Youth Commission. He is actively involved in the National Honor Society and tutors students at Hinkley and Laredo Elementary schools. Most recently, he earned the Presidential Service Award through his involvement with the Executive Internship Program at Pickens Technical College.

Since the age of 5, Garcia has dreamed of becoming an architect. He is now pursuing an internship with SlaterPaull Architects, a leading Colorado architectural firm which recently designed the new Aurora Hills Middle School. After graduation, he plans to attend college to pursue a degree in architecture.

The Aurora Rotary presented Garcia with an engraved award and a check for $100 to benefit Hinkley High School. The Aurora Rotary Club Student Awards recognize outstanding middle and high school students in Aurora who have excelled in scholarship, community service, school citizenship and/or significant achievement.
