The Student Council at Jewell sponsored a canned food drive again this year and collected more than 2400 cans. The donated food will go to the United Way distribution site on Alameda Ave. at the Aurora Alliance Church, and to the Colfax Project. These two food pantries distribute the food to people in the Aurora Community.
Students tracked the can donations on a graph for each class, and the Aurora Alliance Church will hold a pizza party for the class who brought in the most food. The food drive combined math skills and graphing with community service.
