National Education Leader Visits APS
United States Department of Education Deputy Secretary Tony Miller recently visited APS to learn more about what teachers face in the classroom. Miller met with members of the APS Leadership Team, the Board of Education and teachers representing different experiences in APS (elementary, middle, high and pilot schools, SPED, ELL and AGATE). Aurora Education Association President Brenna Isaacs and Executive Director Frank O’Hara also attended the event.
The meeting, hosted by Montview Elementary School staff, focused on what is happening in APS and what would help teachers do their jobs. Miller emphasized that he was on a listening tour with the goal of learning what challenges educators face and how they are confronting those challenges.
