2010 Bond Projects Underway
Thanks to bond funds approved by voters in 2008, APS has several school construction projects underway or slated to begin this year.
Construction of the new Vista PEAK (P-20) Campus in east Aurora is progressing, with a P-8 school scheduled to open in fall 2010 (pictured right). Ninth-grade students will also attend the P-8 campus during the 2010-11 school year. A high school will open in fall 2011.
Other projects scheduled to begin in 2010 include:
- Meadowood Child Development Center-a third preschool center to serve students in the southern part of APS
- Aurora Hills Middle School replacement school-a new state-of-the-art building to replace the “open concept” school built in 1973
- Aurora Central High School-an eight-classroom addition to house science programs
- Columbia Middle School-heating, air conditioning and mechanical repairs
In addition, APS will complete building renewal projects at several schools. Every school in the district will receive building and technology improvements during the five-year bond program.

Note: As a voter-approved election measure, bond funds can only be used for bond construction projects and not for other budget purposes.
