APS Budget Update for 2/10/2010

APS Teammates:

I hope that you have had a chance to view the budget podcast. Although our current APS budget is sound, it is clear that state funding cuts impacting our 2010-11 budget will force us to change the way we do business in the Aurora Public Schools.

As I mentioned in the Webinar, we are keeping the survey open until 4 p.m. today. You may access the survey at superintendent.aurorak12.org/budget/update/survey/.

The hotline is also open at
superintendent.aurorak12.org/budget/update/hotline/ .

We are working hard to provide and publish answers to questions posed on the hotline as soon as possible.

The Special Budget Advisory Committee will convene on Feb. 11. It will include representatives from AEA, CEC and SEA as well as parents and community members. We will provide more information about committee members and the committees’ work later this month.

We also want to keep parents informed about our budget. On Jan. 29, I sent a Connect-ED budget update to all parents. This week I will send parents a packet that includes a budget letter update, FAQ and survey. I will send another Connect-ED call informing them that this packet is coming. The parent survey will be open until Feb. 26.
