Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss
Written by Amanda Moriels
Aurora Public Schools celebrated Read Across America Day on March 2 with guest readers all over the district. These special guests included many APS support staff, who read to students in classrooms and media centers wearing Seuss hats and costumes. Superintendent John Barry read to students at Laredo Elementary School.
In his 87 years, Theodor Seuss Geisel wrote more than 60 books that are still enjoyed today. Books like The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and Green Eggs & Ham are still popular even though they were published more than 40 years ago.
The rhyming author gave many children a great reason to pick up a book and enjoy the story inside. From pictures of striped cats with red hats to a green meal that gave Sam-I-Am a crazy ordeal, Dr. Seuss will continually be cherished for the literature he has shared with the world.
