Skills to Success Graduation Ceremony
As part of the EARSS grant and in collaboration with the Original Aurora Restoration Foundation, 16 Aurora Central High School students attend weekly education/support “Skills for Success” groups. Nine students successfully completed this 14-week course and graduated on March 4.
The “Skills to Success” program is taught by Walker McDonald and focuses on assisting students to appropriately manage their anger, make positive choices in friends, attend school regularly and develop positive self-esteem.
Parents, friends and students gathered at Aurora Central High School to applaud each graduate. Superintendent John L. Barry opened the ceremony and awarded each student with a certificate of completion. Jane Barber, APS Board of Education member and Dr. Barbara Cooper, Chief of Equity and Engagement, were also in attendance.
The data collected shows improved attendance in the “Skills for Success” graduates.
