Seth Smith of the Colorado Rockies, and former player-coach Mark Randall and “Rocky,” the team mascot for the Denver Nuggets, recently surprised four students at Hinkley High School with the news that they have been named Daniels Scholars.
Five other APS seniors were also named Daniels Scholars, bringing the total number of 2010 APS Daniels Scholars to nine. The scholarship allows students to attend and graduate from any nonprofit college or university in the United States. All recipients come from families in financial need. Congratulations to the following:

- Uonsong Ly - Gateway High School
- Danielle Davis - Hinkley High School
- Marco Antonio Garcia - Hinkley High School
