It is the annual tradition of Fletcher Elementary to celebrate the winter break with Pajama Day on the last day of school for the calendar year. Staff and students alike come to school in pajamas, robes and comfortable attire. Reading along with a little eating and sipping of hot cocoa is the order of the day. This year Fletcher had over 25 guests to help us celebrate books. Each classroom had a guest reader visit to share a book or two and talk about what their job is in the community. Our guest readers came from the Aurora Police Department, Aurora Public Library, University Hospital/Radiation and Oncology Clinic, Aurora Parks and Recreation, RE/MAX, community business members, family members of Fletcher, Aurora School Board members, and Aurora Public Schools employees that work at non-school sites. Each classroom also had a community member or parent come to help pass out the gift bags that were filled with donated gifts for every one of the 500 plus students.
Last week at Fletcher we held a press conference to announce our plan to split into two Pilot Schools. You can see a few pictures of the event below and read the full story by 7 News at
After lots and lots of work by both the Fletcher k-3 Design Team and the Fletcher 4-8 Design Team, the Board of Education has approved our status as a Pilot School in Aurora Public Schools. This has been in the making for nearly two years and we are all very excited to start this next phase in the life of Fletcher. If you would like more information please check out the proposals from each school by clicking on or downloading the PDFs linked below. Thanks everyone who helped or encouraged us along the way, it’s only the beginning now!
